Orthopedic Injuries
Orthopedic Injuries can cause disruption to your activities of daily living and limit your ability to return to recreational tasks. ADAPT is here for you if you have: Neck and Back pain; Shoulder pain from impingement, osteoarthritis, labral tear, rotator cuff tear, post-op arthroscopy; Hip pain from osteoarthritis, labral tear, impingement, post-op arthroscopy; Knee pain from osteoarthritis, meniscus tear, ligament tear/repair, patellofemoral syndrome, ITB syndrome, replacement; Ankle instability/injuries- sprains, arthroscopy. Pelvic Pain
Pelvic Pain affects 26% of the population who were assigned female at birth and there are many causes of pelvic pain. The origin can stem from many systems- musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, genitourinary, neurological, psychological or a combination. Pelvic pain can cause discomfort with intercourse (dyspareunia), pain during daily tasks such as sitting or riding a bike and pain or difficulty with urination or bowel movements. Some causes of pelvic pain include endometriosis, PCOS, trauma to the pelvic floor, abdominal/pelvic surgeries, pelvic organ prolapse, childbirth and interstitial cystitis. Pelvic health can help you understand your pain and use a whole body approach to improve your quality of life.
Bowel Dysfunction
Bowel Dysfunction can cause symptoms of constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and bloating. Your pelvic PT will guide you on nutritional suggestions, pelvic floor muscle treatments and abdominal mobilization for lasting relief.
Bladder Dysfunction
Bladder Dysfunction can disrupt your daily life. Whether it is urge or stress incontinence, overactive bladder, waking up at night to urinate (nocturia), interstitial cystitis or pelvic organ prolapse. Your pelvic PT will review with you, strategies to help reduce leakage to improve your daily life, improve sleep quality and/or reduce pain.
Postpartum Health
Postpartum Health will help guide you back to exercise in a safe manner. After pregnancy, you may have a difficult time connecting with your pelvic floor. You may experience pelvic floor or low back/hip pain, core weakness, or pain/tightness along a cesarean or perineal scar. There may be diastasis recti present after being pregnant. Your pelvic PT will guide you back into safe activities, work on scar tissue and give you strategies and exercises to connect to your core and pelvic floor.
Sexual Health
Sexual Health sexuality and intimacy is a big part of quality of life. Pelvic health can help with a variety of sexual health difficulties. Difficulty reaching orgasm, painful orgasms, difficulty with libido and desire as well as painful intercourse are among some of the sexual health difficulties one can experience. Pelvic health takes a multifactorial approach to helping with sexual health difficulties as well as creating a safe space to help improve sexual experiences and pleasure.
